It's Valentine's Day! It can be the best day of your year...or it can be the worst. I remember once getting a card for a friend that said on the outside, "Please be my Valentine." On the inside, it said, "Or I'll have to rent one again."
Seems like I spent a lot of Valentine's Days alone. But I remember some pretty happy ones too. It was always cool in elementary school because you got a Valentine from your crush whether he meant it or not. In those days, everyone's mothers made them do Valentines for the whole class. So you would go home from school all dreamy-eyed, certain that he was in love with you, conveniently ignoring the fact that every girl in the class got the same MAD Magazine goofy card that you did.
When I was a junior in high school, a date took me to the state fair on Valentine's Day. About ten years later I married him, but a lot of stuff happened in between. I'm not married to him now. Enough said.
Maybe the most romantic day - when I was in college, my boyfriend took me to see Zeferelli's ROMEO AND JULIET. I wore a red velvet dress with white lace that my grandmother had made for me. Oh, I WAS Juliet that night - minus the poison and dagger. Didn't marry him, although I could have. Broke his heart instead.
Last year, I was at the most romantic place on earth - The Magic Kingdom - with my Prince. And tonight he's taking me to see Huey Lewis and the News. Another crush I've harbored over the years. This one will be great. And I think I've just decided that the best Valentine's Day of all is the one in front of you.
Happy Valentine's Day to All! Go kiss your Crush!

Book of the Month!!
Sensual Reads has nominated ALMOST PARADISE for Book of the Month for March! How exciting is that? I really love this book. The characters were wounded souls who needed an idyllic setting to help them heal. I'm really happy that readers and reviewers love them as much as I do.

And how about that great cover! I couldn't have done it better if they'd let me shoot the photo myself. It's really lovely, portraying the mood exactly as I imagined it.
We're in Award Season with the Grammys this month and the Oscars next. I think I'll put on something with sequins and walk myslef down a red carpet just to get in the mood. Meanwhile, you could do me a great favor by going to the Sensual Reads poll and voting for ALMOST PARADISE. It's a wonderful story. I hope you enjoy it!
Here's the link for the poll:
Thanks! Have a wonderful day!

Brianna's Cover
Just received the awesome cover for BRIANNA'S MAGIC, available at Loose-Id on March 13. I know what you're thinking. Looks a lot like the cover for KELLA'S CHARM, doesn't it? Why, yes it does. And there's a very good reason for that.KELLA'S CHARM (available now at Loose-Id) is set in ancient Ireland. Kella lives in the castle that belonged to her father, Torin. The family "has magick" which causes neighboring Lord Rayner more than a little bit of trouble. Of course, we all know she doesn't need magick to have him under her spell.
Fast forward to 2007. Brianna O'Shea lives in the little village of Torin on the edge of Ireland. Yes, she's descended from Kella and Rayner. And she has the magic that tends to run in the family. Now here comes aggressive American businessman Michael Gallagher with plans to tear down Brianna's beloved ruins and build a swanky hotel on the cliff overlooking the sea. Is he crazy? Has he forgotten his Irish roots and the magic that ran in his family as well? Just in time for St. Patrick's Day, check out BRIANNA'S MAGIC to see whether he comes to his senses.

The Reviews Are Rolling In!
ALMOST PARADISE, my first release from Loose-Id.com is starting to draw the attention of online review sites. This is exciting on many levels, but mostly because it's validating for someone who is not in love with me to say nice things about my work. Here are a couple of snippets:
"The sex between them is very hot and you feel the emotional connection with every touch. As the story progresses, Ms. Carnell peals back layers to show more depth to the characters. As a result, I was entranced with the story and the insecurities of the two characters. The completion of the romance had me very happy I had read the story. I found this a touching erotic romance with just the right amount of whimsy. Almost Paradise is paradise to read – don’t miss it!"
--Julie Esparza, JERR, 4.5 hearts
"Almost Paradise hooked me from the very first page. Right away many questions are given but very little answers making the reader desire more.As the story unfolds those answers will astound you. This is not the same story you have read before. Almost Paradise is a scintillating plot with twists and turns that will make your head spin. Delia Carnell is genius when it comes to unique captivating stories."
-- Zoe Knighton, Sensual Reads, 5 roses
Did you get that last remark? Genius. That may be just a little bit over the mark. I mean, I haven't found a cure for cancer or anything. I would reserve "genius" for Einstein and people like that. Still, it's kind of fun. I've been throwing it around with my family, each one of which is already tired of it.
As my sister said, "Yeah, that's one person's opinion."
But it's validating. I was afraid I might be like those lonely people on American Idol who sound like screeching cats but truly think they sing well. Maybe I'm the only one who thinks I can write. Clearly Julie and Zoe are insightful perceptive reveiwers, having recognized my genius out of the many words that flow before their eyes daily.
Okay, enough basking in the glow of great reviews. It's time to go change the cat litter.
Have a wonderful day!

I Was Gonna Post This Yesterday, But.....Uhh.....
So this morning as I'm reading my morning newspaper, I come across the following headline:
READ THIS NOW! PROCRASTINATION CAN BRING PROBLEMS
So, I read it. The article talks about how procrastinators tend to be overweight, in debt, and unhappy. (Well, heck, those first two would make me unhappy, so maybe there is a pattern, but anyway...) Now if you think about it, this is not really surprising. "I'll start my diet next week. I'll save money after Christmas." ETC.
But here's the part I find noteworthy:
"After 10 years of research on a project that was only supposed to take five years..."
Does anyone besides me find that hysterically funny?
Post your comments.
NOW!!
Have a wonderful day.

CP Gets Haunted!
Great news! I just received a contract offer for BLAME IT ON THE GHOST from Cerridwen Press. I'm very excited about this one.
If TOUGHER THAN DIAMONDS was my homage to Lawrence Block, then this one is for Stephen King. Oh, I don't imagine that the horror master is anything like my Dylan, but still... all those scary books did something to me, or I wouldn't have thought to make this character.
Dylan and Amberly (anyone who lives in Tampa Palms will know where I first saw THAT name) go to a little place called Cassadaga to get some help in tracking down their ghost. Cassadaga is a real place, pretty much as I described it. You really do just walk into the bookstore and look at names on a chalkboard to find someone for a reading. I did it myself, a really long time ago. It's a charming little community. If you're ever in the Orlando area, you will definitely want to make the sidetrip to check it out. Even if you don't want a reading, you'll find something to like about the place.
Now I have to decide between the Runaway Heiress or the one about the cursed sunken treasuer to finish up next. Hmmm.....decisions, decisions.
